Marketing Checklist for Your Online Business

When I got started online I found myself frustrated. I was "told" that all I had to do was find a niche, make a product and then sell it. Turns out that wasn't even close to the case. I had to learn all kinds of technology that I had never even heard of.

In order to overcome the overwhelm and frustration I find that creating "checklists" made it easy to get my head around what I was actually trying to accomplish as well as keep track of my progress.

Evergreen Versus Information Products

Warning: A non-numeric value encountered in /var/www/vhosts/incomemachine.com/public_html/blog/wp-content/plugins/paper-template/papertemplate.php(15) : eval()'d code(3) : eval()'d code on line 392

When you make a video, e-book, report, or membership site should you make the information still be relevant a year from now and three years from now, or should it be current only today? I know that you might see some fads that come and go on the internet, whether it's facebook fan pages, advertising on Fiver or outsourcing on oDesk, you will always see websites, methods or techniques that will work today but might not necessarily be the same a year from now.

If you are making a product that takes you under 24 hours, and you want to make it about a fad that might die out in a month or a year, then do it but if your time it takes to make an information product is longer than 24 hours then stick to an Evergreen subject.

Evergreen means that when you are making a video or a report, you make sure not to mention the current day of the week, time, current month, year or even the day, that way when people see your information six months or a year from now they won't discount the value of it.

If a good opportunity comes along and you are really excited about some new way of marketing, some new technique, or some new system and you can record it in under 24 hours get it published and everything then you should create some kind of video training based on this current fad. And the reason for that is because in six months if that fad dies out or changes, you can create Version 2.0, Version 3.0 and update your course.

What technique has been working very well for me is decide what price you want to make this training course, such as $197. You can have people buy into this training course and in the future if they want the updated version they can pay some kind of existing customer prices such as $47 to get the updated training. If they don't pay the upgraded price they will still have access to your old training but now you can paid over and over again just by updating your training, adding new information to it, and making it more exciting.

A very easy way to organize this on a technical level is to set up a membership site because you can create one membership level for your 1.0 product, one memberhsip level for your 2.0 product, and so on. That way when you sell new customers into Version 2, they get Version 1 and 2. When you sell to customers Version 3, they get Versions 1, 2, and 3 and you can simply add new videos to this members area, and people can buy which module they want.

When it comes to making information products, if you can capitalize or teach some new or time based, or time sensitive subject do it in under 24 hours, if you can't do it under 24 hours make that training Evergreen. Either way it is always a good idea to use a membership and membership levels to handle your digital downloads and update them on a regular basis.

How To Outsource the Creation of your Next Information Product

Warning: A non-numeric value encountered in /var/www/vhosts/incomemachine.com/public_html/blog/wp-content/plugins/paper-template/papertemplate.php(15) : eval()'d code(3) : eval()'d code on line 392

Writing a digital report, e-book, or even making a video course can be fun but writing, editing and slaving over your next product is not fun. That is why while it is possible to outsource some of the product creation process, you should do the creative, easy and fun stuff yourself and then hire out someone else to do the tedious tasks such as transcription.

I don't believe that you 100% outsource the creation of your next product, but you will be happy with it. What you should do is decide what parts of making a product are creative for you. That might mean that you will make the outline, that you will make some of the bonuses, even record some of the videos but you might dictate videos and audios and have someone else transcribe them for you.

Then you can focus on making the information easy to use. My favorite way of doing this is dictating out some audios, getting them transcribed and then addiing screen shots in between parts of the transcript, so that when anyone gets it they can still tell that this was dictated by me, transcribed by someone else and then I went in and added videos or added screen shots so someone else could understand the material.

No matter what your niche is whether it is weight loss, self help, relationships, marketing, software or some other subject, it's important that you have your own personality. Some people will buy your product based on the features, some are based on the benefits, and others will buy based on the personality simply because they know they can trust you and have enjoyed something from you in the past.

You still need to make videos and audios with you as the star, but have someone else worry about the tedious tasks such as outsourcing. I think that when you outsource your information product whether it's a report, video course, membership site, audio course or home study course you need to have as much of you still in the product.

That means do the creative things like outlining it, choosing the course curriculum, making videos and audios, and making the user experience easy - do that part yourself but have someone else do the tedious tasks such as transcripts. Go back and make it easier to use by adding screenshots, and make sure that your picture, your name, and your words are all throughout the product.

Robert Plank wants to show you how to get your articles, audios, and products transcribed and outsourced using this step by step system at www.makeaproduct.com.

The Best Way to Sell Private Label Rights Licenses for an Information Product

Warning: A non-numeric value encountered in /var/www/vhosts/incomemachine.com/public_html/blog/wp-content/plugins/paper-template/papertemplate.php(15) : eval()'d code(3) : eval()'d code on line 392

When you create an information product you can make sales on the front end, which means that you sell the product directly but you can also makes sales on the back end by providing resale rights, private label rights or PLR to those information products. Far too many people devalue their PLR material that is why you should price any resale rights items at a high price, have a capped or limited quantity and provide as many tools as possible to make it easy for your buyers to begin marketing your product under their name.

Many people who offer PLR disagree with me on this but you need to offer your resale rights at a high price. This means at leave 10 times the price of the original product. If you were selling a $7 product the price for rights should be at least $100, if you were selling a product for $50 the resale rights should be at least $500. If you think about this is still a great deal because any buyer only needs to make 10 sales in order to make their money back. If that takes them a week or a month, that is still a reasonable amount of time for them to break even.

The next very important thing when it comes to resale rights is to have a limited quantity of licesnses available. As someone who buys rights I am always worried about having too much competition. What good is buying a product and buying the ability to sell it myself if 100 or 1,000 other people also have the ability to do the same thing. That is why you should limit the number of licenses available to 10, 20, or 30 buyers and that is it at that price. If the rights sell out very well, then you can later on sell rights at a higher price and limit those numbers, but at least you are protecting the buyers. Limit the number of resale rights licenses that you sell.

And finally you want to give your buyers as many tools as possible out of the box. This means that if you had a download page for your product, supply that along with the resale rights. If you had a sales letter give them that. If you used emails to market the product, if you used facebook posts, tweets, even if you gave a prewritten ad to affiliates provide that as well.

What is interesting is that I have sold rights that have many people implement the sales letter, download page and solo ad that same day, placed in an affiliate network such as click bank or pay.com and make sales, and make the money back the same day they bought rights from me. And that should be what your resale rights buyers experience as well, so they will buy from you over and over again.

Are WSOs or Warrior Special Offers About To Put All Internet Marketers Out of Business

Warning: A non-numeric value encountered in /var/www/vhosts/incomemachine.com/public_html/blog/wp-content/plugins/paper-template/papertemplate.php(15) : eval()'d code(3) : eval()'d code on line 392

One very popular way for internet marketers to make a handful of sales, get a lot of traffic, and in general test a new product in the marketplace is by making a special offer on the Warrior Forum. With this system it used to work out where you would post a private offer just for members of that forum. In other words, you might have a product for sale for $20 outside the forum and $10 in the forum.

That has changed recently because now affiliates can promote these special offers inside of the Warrior Forum. But luckily, these will not put you out of business if you do them right because this Warrior Forum is used to the $10 mentality, many of the products are low-quality and you can still market in and out of the Warrior Forum if you use this as a traffic source, as a source of lead generation.

One difficulty I have with many internet marketing forums in general is that the buyers are used to $10 products. That means if you post a $10 offer on the Warrior Forum it will convert great, you will get a lot of sales. But if you price at $30 or $100 on that forum you will not do as well. That's okay but just keep in mind that if you want to post a mass market product, especially in a forum or message board where people are not your subscribers, people have not heard of you yet you should post at around a $10 price point.

Another piece of good news is that because anything goes on internet, on many forums - many of the products that are posted are of a very low-quality that means that if you post a product that shows great results, a step by step system, a bold promise, some of your own case studies, or all the above you will convert very well.

The key is just have something that seems brand new. If you have ten hours of great training for $10 and it something you have used, others have used and gotten great results from whether that is extra money, saves time or just any problem they were having difficulty with before you will convert very well. And what you can do is then plug-in to the WSO plus system and get others to promote these offers for you as affiliates.

Even though it may seem like I said some bad things about the forum such as they will rarely buy above $10 and there are a lot of low-quailty offers, you need to look at this as a source of lead generation. Build a list off buyers, make an offer for $10 even if it seems like a ridiculous offer, even if it seems like it is priced too low, post it get affiliates to promote for then get them on your email subscriber list and promote bigger, better, and higher priced offers to them.

In order to adapt to Warrior Special Offers go to the Warrior Forum and post a $10 offer right away. Make sure you differentiate yourself from a lot of the low-quality offers out there and get your buyers on an email list so you can upsell, speak to, and market to them later.

Launch Your Products Today Without Any Affiliates

Warning: A non-numeric value encountered in /var/www/vhosts/incomemachine.com/public_html/blog/wp-content/plugins/paper-template/papertemplate.php(15) : eval()'d code(3) : eval()'d code on line 392

If you have heard of the concept of an affiliate program, it means that you can promote someone else's offer and receive a commission just for recommending it for others if the offer makes sales to your subscribers. And someone can do the same for you. You can set up an affiliate program for your $100 product, and if someone promotes your web page with a special link that their subscribers then buy then the vendor will make $50 and you will make $50 as well.

You don't need an affiliate program to first launch a product. When we launch a product what you will do is have something for sale and make a bid deal about it, send multiple emails, make extra videos stating why it is so great and that's it. You don't need to over think what a product launch is. To launch a product without affiliates you just need subscribers, traffic, and an email sequence.

When you launch your product people need to see it, and that means you need to have subscribers of some kind. That usually means you have built a mailing list and have a few thousand or a few hundred subscribers on that list, people who have willingly given you their name and email address and you talk to them on a regular basis.

They might be fans on your facebook page, they might be your twitter followers, they might even be users of a high-traffic forum that you regularly visit and post to over and over. Either way you need to have some kind of a following before doing anything. Once you have that following what you do is then promote offers or URLs to those people and that becomes traffic. Your subscribers click over to your sight and then you might have 500, 1000 or 10,000 people going to that site at any given time. That is called traffic.

If you have a sales letter that converts at 2% or that converts at 5% that means that 2% of the people who come to your web page convert into buyers. Now you make sales and you don't have to give commission to anyone else. But one thing that will really help you to get people onto your site is to have some kind of email launch sequence. This sounds scary - but it just means that you should tell your subscribers what it is you have for sale over and over, preferably once a day for at least a week or two leading up to the unveiling of your brand new product, or to your updated product.

Email your subscribers at least a minimum of three to five times, once per day to announce something that is brand new. You don't necessarily need to launch a product without affiliates, but the good news is that even if you only make a handful of sales from your own subscribers, traffic and email sequence, you now know what your conversion rate is. You now know what the response is to this offer and when you do create an affiliate program now you can tell the affiliates how well your product performs.

In order to get everything set up in preparation for your affiliate program including your sales letter, opt-in page, and membership site you should go to www.newbiecrusher.com right now.

Joint Ventures Explained

Warning: A non-numeric value encountered in /var/www/vhosts/incomemachine.com/public_html/blog/wp-content/plugins/paper-template/papertemplate.php(15) : eval()'d code(3) : eval()'d code on line 392

When you are marketing on the internet, you might hear about things called affiliate programs which means that you recommend someone else's product or service to your subscribers and just for recommending them you get a commission for that sale. But if you have a really high converting affiliate program or if you network with others, you can create more personalized deals call joint-ventures.

With a joint-venture you might make money in commission as an affiliate but also provide a special deal for people who buy from you. You might get a special deal as far as what the vendor pays you, and you might even add your own product to the vendors, or make a product with them.

The first concept I want to make sure you understand is this concept of an affiliate program. This is a pretty impersonal joint venture, it means that if someone has a $100 product for sale, you can post on your blog, post on twitter, or send an email to your subscribers recommending this person with your special link.

If your subscribers then buy from this vendor, and let's say the vendor was selling a $100 product, you will get $50 in commission. Some of these vendors do things such as recurring membership sites, so you might get paid $50 a month, they have things called lifetime tagging, which means that your subscribers might buy mulitple products or might buy in six months or a year from now from that vendor and you will get a commission for that as well. Other than that, that is where the affiliate program stops.

What you can do is if you make a lot of sales for a vendor, contact them and figure out if you can get paid a higher percent commission. Figure out if they will tell you when someone buys so you can deliver a bonus manually to that buyer. Find out if you can create a bonus and put it in the download or members area of the vendor whether or not someone bought through your affiliate link.

Either way what you should do is contribute something first to that vendor show them you can make at least a handful of sales, and then figure out how to help them better by providing extra content made by you. And if you find you really connect very well with this vendor, you can create what is called a co-product which means an information product where you both work on and create the product. This can be something as simple as interviewing the vendor, or having them interview you. Save the recording and now that is an extra bonus, or an extra series of things they can buy. Maybe make a video together. Maybe they make some videos, you make some videos - either way, if you want to get joint-ventures first find someone to promote, make them some sales, help them out in some way and then focus on landing these special deals and co-products as well.

Are you stuck on how to create a product, maybe you want to make more products, make them faster and even make more sales from them? I want to show you how to do that at www.makeaproduct.com.

How to Divide Up Work in a Fair Fashion with your Business Partner

Warning: A non-numeric value encountered in /var/www/vhosts/incomemachine.com/public_html/blog/wp-content/plugins/paper-template/papertemplate.php(15) : eval()'d code(3) : eval()'d code on line 392

You found someone to do business with and maybe that means you are doing a launch together or working on a product together, but you need to make sure that you are both doing an equal amount of work and benefiting the same as well. You need to make sure that you both have clearly defined tasks that your skills don't completely overlap and that you have least systemitized as much of your product or your launch or your marketing process as possible, so you can be sure everything has been completed.

What does it mean to have non-overlapping skills? It means that if you team up with someone to create and launch a product together that there is only copywriter. There is only one email marketer. There is only one person making the videos, and so on. One person could have many tasks but you should clearly define who is doing what and only have one person do it. That way if you are the one editing the sales letter the other person is not messing with it. If your partner is setting up the membership site and the plug ins, you don't mess with his work and so on.

You might equally contribute in content, or you might equally contact your own email lists, but make sure that you have clearly defined whose job is whose so that you don't step on each other's toes.

Not only should you define what tasks are each others, but also make sure that the person you are working with needs you just as much as you need them. That might mean that the other person is a better copywriter, which is why they are working on the sales letter, or you are a better email marketer so you are writing the emails. Or the other person has access to more traffic or more affiliates and they are hooking those up. There is nothing worse than working on a project with someone, having to split the money and always be thinking in the back of your mind I could have done this job, I could have done that job. Make sure you can do something that they can't do and they can do something that you can't do.

Finally have a step by step system that you can repeat, and verify the results. That means if you guys have agreed that a memebership site should have a certain number of posts with a certain set of plug ins, with a certain customized theme, you at least have that in some kind of a checklist so you can each check on what has been completed, how many emails have been written, how well the sales letter is converting, and so on so you can both feel as if you have benefited equally and also contributed equally.

How to find a Business Partner You Will Work Well With

Warning: A non-numeric value encountered in /var/www/vhosts/incomemachine.com/public_html/blog/wp-content/plugins/paper-template/papertemplate.php(15) : eval()'d code(3) : eval()'d code on line 392

Whether you are marketing on or off the internet, you don't want to go about it alone. That means you should find someone who you can promote and can promote you to introduce you to a new audience, more traffic and a new set of subscribers. But you should be independent and able to survive without that partner, you should have similar goals and similar styles of marketing, and you should also be in the same niche.

I recommend against finding a business partner just because you can't market or you can't survive on your own. What if you find a business partner and they decide to go in a different direction than you, or to partner with someone else, or that person goes out of business. Now you are out of business as well. That is why I think you should stand on your own at first, have your own websites, your own blog posts, your own products, your own subscriber lists and then market with someone and join with someone because you want to not because you have to.

When you do connect with someone make sure this is a person with common goals similar to yours. This means that they market at the same prices as you, they have similar products as you and they just generally do business and market themselves in a similar way as you. What I mean by this is let's say you were very protective of your email subscribers and you only promoted offers that you have tried and believe in but your business partner promoted any and all offers that came his or her way.

There is nothing wrong with this, but it means that if you partner with this person you are going to conflict more often than not. That is why it's important to have someone who markets the same way as you and thinks the same as you.

And finally, this partner should be in the same niche. If you are in the jewerly niche you don't want to partner with someone is in the weight loss niche because their subscribers will not be interested in your offer and vice versa. You won't be able to promote each other, or even make products together when the time comes. That is why if you are in the list building niche, you should partner with someone who has similar skills in the list building niche. If you are in the self help niche, partner with someone in the self help niche and so on.

I hope this gives you a good idea of how to find a business partner you will work well with. Make sure you can survive without that business partner, that you have similar goals, and you are in the same niche.
