Membership Sites: Should You Offer Some Kind Of Community At A Low or High Price Point?

Warning: A non-numeric value encountered in /var/www/vhosts/incomemachine.com/public_html/blog/wp-content/plugins/paper-template/papertemplate.php(15) : eval()'d code(3) : eval()'d code on line 392

When you make some kind of membership site you want to make it a site that people will revisit every day, or at least once per month, that way they have a reason to keep buying from you and possibly to keep paying a monthly fee. When you create this membership site forum you need to keep a few things in mind.

First of all, are you giving your members a reason to read that forum? Is the price point attractive enough to get enough people, and valuable enough to keep people posting month after month? Do you have some way to stir up the conversation?

The number one mistake that happens with forums or message boards is that there's no reason for people to talk. If I go to your forum and no one has posted in several months, I'm going to assume no one is reading any of the content and there's no reason to post. That's why you should make it a point to encourage your members to always post to your forum, and you should post there as well to keep people reading and talking.

The next thing to consider is can you get enough people talking? If you have a free forum, you can get more people talking but it's not going to be a very closely connected community. Likewise, if you charge money for that forum you can have people paying you month after month, in an exclusive area, but you won't have a large number of members and you'll have to make it a very valuable conversation. In doing that, a great idea to get people talking on your forum is to present a contest. For example, who has the best answer or who asks the best question. You can reward the best poster in your membership site with something like an Amazon gift card, a free month of membership site or some special bonus, or even just recognition of that member of the month.

In addition to setting up your forum you need to be posting there, replying there and keeping the conversation active. The price you charge for that forum doesn't matter so much as how many people can you get in that forum, can you give them a worthwhile reason to read and can you reward people for posting the best content.

Robert Plank will show you everything you need to know about membership sites, including the forum and community component at www.membershipcube.com.

The Best Membership Site Software To Serve Up Your Digital Downloads

Warning: A non-numeric value encountered in /var/www/vhosts/incomemachine.com/public_html/blog/wp-content/plugins/paper-template/papertemplate.php(15) : eval()'d code(3) : eval()'d code on line 392

I honestly believe that the best software combination to take orders using a membership site and to use that membership site to serve up digital videos, audios and reports, is to use a combination of WordPress, WishList Member and WP Drip. Use WordPress to set up the content, WishList Member to take payments and WP Drip to drip that content.

Although there are a million different choices you can make when it comes to the membership site software to use, your membership site should be based around WordPress. The reason for this is that it has been around for years and is the best content management system. They make it easy for you to add articles and blog posts, to embed videos, there are forums for WordPress, it's easy for others to leave comments, interact and even to have many people on staff, and have multiple users login and post content of their own.

WordPress is also very simple, it's constantly updated and it's easy for anyone to use. You use WordPress to post your content but, you need to protect your content and you need the ability to allow people to pay you money to get access to that private members area. That's why I think you should use the WishList Member plug in on top of WordPress. This plug in isn't free but if you just make a few sales in your membership site, it has already paid for itself.

With WishList Member you create a membership level, you choose which posts and pages within your membership site to protect from the outside world, and which of those posts and pages that new membership level has access to. Finally, you also set up a payment button so that someone can pay you money and then get access to a specific membership level, and in turn get access to your membership site.

If you have lots of monthly content or you simply want to drip out bonuses, even if someone only pays you once or a handful of times, you should use the WP Drip plug in which will drip out your content and your posts based on how far apart you've posted them. That means that if you add content to your site spaced a day, or a week, or a month apart, someone will join and they will see just the first day. The longer they are in your membership site the more content they see.

When you set up your membership site use WordPress to deliver the content, WishList Member to protect that content and WP Drip to gradually drip out that content.

Joint Ventures Explained

Warning: A non-numeric value encountered in /var/www/vhosts/incomemachine.com/public_html/blog/wp-content/plugins/paper-template/papertemplate.php(15) : eval()'d code(3) : eval()'d code on line 392

When you are marketing on the internet, you might hear about things called affiliate programs which means that you recommend someone else's product or service to your subscribers and just for recommending them you get a commission for that sale. But if you have a really high converting affiliate program or if you network with others, you can create more personalized deals call joint-ventures.

With a joint-venture you might make money in commission as an affiliate but also provide a special deal for people who buy from you. You might get a special deal as far as what the vendor pays you, and you might even add your own product to the vendors, or make a product with them.

The first concept I want to make sure you understand is this concept of an affiliate program. This is a pretty impersonal joint venture, it means that if someone has a $100 product for sale, you can post on your blog, post on twitter, or send an email to your subscribers recommending this person with your special link.

If your subscribers then buy from this vendor, and let's say the vendor was selling a $100 product, you will get $50 in commission. Some of these vendors do things such as recurring membership sites, so you might get paid $50 a month, they have things called lifetime tagging, which means that your subscribers might buy mulitple products or might buy in six months or a year from now from that vendor and you will get a commission for that as well. Other than that, that is where the affiliate program stops.

What you can do is if you make a lot of sales for a vendor, contact them and figure out if you can get paid a higher percent commission. Figure out if they will tell you when someone buys so you can deliver a bonus manually to that buyer. Find out if you can create a bonus and put it in the download or members area of the vendor whether or not someone bought through your affiliate link.

Either way what you should do is contribute something first to that vendor show them you can make at least a handful of sales, and then figure out how to help them better by providing extra content made by you. And if you find you really connect very well with this vendor, you can create what is called a co-product which means an information product where you both work on and create the product. This can be something as simple as interviewing the vendor, or having them interview you. Save the recording and now that is an extra bonus, or an extra series of things they can buy. Maybe make a video together. Maybe they make some videos, you make some videos - either way, if you want to get joint-ventures first find someone to promote, make them some sales, help them out in some way and then focus on landing these special deals and co-products as well.

Are you stuck on how to create a product, maybe you want to make more products, make them faster and even make more sales from them? I want to show you how to do that at www.makeaproduct.com.

Set Up An Upsell Using A Membership Site

Warning: A non-numeric value encountered in /var/www/vhosts/incomemachine.com/public_html/blog/wp-content/plugins/paper-template/papertemplate.php(15) : eval()'d code(3) : eval()'d code on line 392

When you use a membership site to simplify your download delivery it is very easy to present an upsell which means that after someone has paid you for one item, you attempt to sell them on a second, usually a same or higher priced item. Using WordPress based membership software this is actually pretty easy.

All you have to do is first set up a WordPress page with two links on it, make sure that when someone buys that registration level they see that page, and optionally send any members of that level back to that page every time they login.

First you need to set up a page in WordPress. When you do that you present some sort of an offer. What I like to do is record a campaigner PowerPoint video and embed it in that page, when someone buys from me they now see a video that plays automatically that presents a new offer. Just the video on that page is not enough, we now need to give people an option to either take the upsell or pass on the upsell. Both of these are fairly simple.

To allow them to upgrade we add a new payment button underneath that video telling them, yes I will take the upgrade. Below that we also want to link to the inside of our members areas, to your dashboard page or to your front page of your membership site, to say no thanks I will pass on this offer. You have a page with an auto-play video, under that you have a linked upgrade and under that you have a smaller link to say no thanks and to continue logging in.

The next step in your membership software is to send people to that upsell page as soon as they register. Most membership programs, such as WishList Member will allow you to do this on a level by level basis. This means that if someone buys the silver package from you, you can send them to a page saying welcome to the silver level, here's how to upgrade to the gold level. Likewise, you can set in the settings so when someone buys access to the gold level, they get sent to a page saying welcome to the gold level, here's how to upgrade to the platinum level.

What's even cooler than this is that many membership plug ins allow you to specify an after login page for that level which means that you can show people a video to upgrade when they first buy, and even if they say no, give them a second different video every single time they login. That's how you upsell your buyers using a membership site. Create a WordPress page with an auto-play video, a linked upgrade and a link to continue logging in. Then in your settings specify that level's after registration page and optionally specify that level's after login page.

How To Deliver Multiple Products Within The Same Membership Site

Warning: A non-numeric value encountered in /var/www/vhosts/incomemachine.com/public_html/blog/wp-content/plugins/paper-template/papertemplate.php(15) : eval()'d code(3) : eval()'d code on line 392

There are two common misconceptions that happen with membership sites. The first misunderstanding is that membership sites need to charge on a monthly basis, that's simply not true. The other misunderstanding people have is that a membership site can only serve up one download or one product. In reality you can use one single membership site as the unified customer center, where someone can pay you money multiple times for multiple products and get access to them all in one place.

Google does this and Amazon.com do this. With Amazon.com you can view your order history of any physical items, you can watch movies online and you can even download digital books all from the same Amazon account. If you want to reduce the amount of customer support and work on your part, and make it more convenient for your customers, then you should set up a membership site that serves up multiple products.

How is this done? There are three components to it. First of all you set up membership levels, second you give those levels access to certain pages and posts within a protected WordPress blog, and finally you integrate those levels with a payment processor. Someone can pay you money which grants them access to a new level, which in turn lets them see new pieces of content.

When many people explain membership levels they might say something like, you can have a bronze, silver and gold level in your membership site. The way I prefer to look at it is that you can have levels in your site called module 1, module 2, module 3 and so on. That means that you can have module 1 for sale for $100, module 2 for $100 and module 3 for $100. Someone can just buy module 1, go through it and if they decide they want to continue, then pay you for module 2. If they decide they want to continue with that, pay you for module 3 and so on.

For now don't even worry about taking monthly payments, just worry about charging one set price for one piece of content. Once you have members on one or more levels, they can now see content in your membership site. That means that you can have module 1 give access to posts 1, 2 and 3. Module 2 gives access to posts 4, 5 and 6. Someone sees you have something for sale and they buy just module 1. Now their account has access to posts 1, 2 and 3 only. They like what they see and then decide to then purchase module 2 from you. Now that single account has access to posts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6.

One membership level can have access to just one post, one membership level can have access to many posts, or one membership level can have access to the entire membership site. You can create a membership level called full, someone pays you $1,000 for that full level, and now they can see everything you have posted in that membership site.

The final piece of the equation is the payment integration. Every membership software does this differently but, they all provide instructions on how you can create a payment button and take money using a service like Paypal, Click Bank or One Shopping Cart, where a prospect can pay money. They are then given access to a specific level and in turn that levels allows them to see pieces of content within your membership site.

Download Page Or Membership Site To Start Delivering Products

Warning: A non-numeric value encountered in /var/www/vhosts/incomemachine.com/public_html/blog/wp-content/plugins/paper-template/papertemplate.php(15) : eval()'d code(3) : eval()'d code on line 392

When you have anything for sale online one of the first issues you are going to run into is should you deliver that video or digital report using a simple download page or with a membership site. A regular download page is easier and faster to set up, but a membership site allows you to charge more and do more with your customers. A simple download page is very easy to create, simply upload any html page to your web server, create your sales letter and when making the payment button, using a service like Paypal or One Shopping Cart, specify the URL of that download page as the successful checkout URL after someone pays. It's that simple, now you can stick anything you want on that page including a link to pdf documents, embed video and audio, and more.

But, there are many problems with this download page set up. For one, you cannot easily follow up these customers and it can be passed around. A better alternative is to set up a membership site, this means that people will see what you have for sale, they will pay you money and after buying, they will register themselves an account within your membership site. Even though it is a little extra step for them and slightly more work for you to set up this site, it now means that you can easily add updates, notify them of updates and they can easily grab a replacement copy or upgraded version of your training at any time you want. One thing that many people miss about membership sites is that you can serve multiple products and take payments for different offers using the same membership site.

When choosing between a simple download page and a membership site you should do your best to go with a membership site. A download page is great if you only have a few minutes to set something up, but if you can devote even one hour to creating your very own membership site, you can now have much more control over the delivery of your content to your buyers.

How To Research Your Articles And Blog Posts

Warning: A non-numeric value encountered in /var/www/vhosts/incomemachine.com/public_html/blog/wp-content/plugins/paper-template/papertemplate.php(15) : eval()'d code(3) : eval()'d code on line 392

You sit down to write your latest blog post and you might not even have an idea, or maybe you do have an idea but you need proof. You need to have some facts to back it up, you need to just flush out the idea a little bit more so you know exactly what you are talking about.

How do you research these articles and blog posts?

Go to your competitors, look for questions on forums, and even examine your own products so you can have a call to action after you have completed your free training.

The very first thing you should do when you are writing anything is look at what other articles and blog posts have already been written on this subject. You might think that you are checking out these competitors to figure out if you can write on something that has never been discussed before, but you are in fact doing the opposite. I will give you an example.

If you were thinking about writing an article about WordPress blogs, you might look on article sites and blogs and see that many other people have discussed WordPress installation, they might have discussed how to choose the perfect theme, they might have discussed the top WordPress Plug-Ins and so on. Just by looking, not even at the articles or blog posts themselves, but at the titles of these articles and blog posts you can easily get a flood of new ideas that you can put your unique spin on.

The next thing I would do is take a quick look at your local forum. This should be a forum in the same niche, so if you were writing about WordPress look in a WordPress forum. And again, don't look at the actual posts just examine the titles of each forum thread and see what questions or what topics seem to come up over and over again.

Once more, if you see that there are a lot of discussion board posts about the top ten Plug-Ins to use on WordPress, then you now have not only thought of the idea for your article, but you have now discovered that there is a demand for it that others want to know this information, they want your opinion on this subject.

Finally, when you are finishing that article or blog post of your own, look at your own products or look at what products you already promote as an affiliate that way you can have a nice transition from your article or blog post into some kind of an offer.

For example, if you promote some WordPress Plug-In as an affiliate and you are teaching how to set up WordPress that is a nice transition because you talk about setting up WordPress, maybe even touch on the best Plug-In and now here is the link to get that Plug-In.

When you are researching articles and blog posts look at your competitors content on article sites and blogs to get new ideas, check out forums to validate those ideas have a demand, and finally look at your products or your affiliate links to transition from your content into your offer.

Robert Plank wants to show you how to fill up all of your sites whether they are blogs, membership sites, or article sites with content with your free training at www.makeaproduct.com.

How To Write Anything Quickly

Warning: A non-numeric value encountered in /var/www/vhosts/incomemachine.com/public_html/blog/wp-content/plugins/paper-template/papertemplate.php(15) : eval()'d code(3) : eval()'d code on line 392

Whether you are currently trying to finish that sales letter, article, report, or even a full length book you need to write quickly because you will get more excited about what you are writing and you will simply get it out of the way faster.

I honestly believe that when you write quickly you write better, you should strive to write as much as possible in as short of time span as possible.

How do you do it?

You do it by having a short article length, by having one singular goal, and by getting yourself to have absolute focus.

An article is not very long, if you think about it a short article can be as short as 250 words which is under half a page and a decent article one that you can shop around to article directories is about 400 words in length, still about two thirds of a page.

400 words does not give you very much time to get your point across if you consider the title and the intro, you are down to 300 words, you really only have about 100 words per idea if your article has three ideas.

Keeping this down is very helpful for you.

We have all read reports or books where the author seemed to go off on a rant or devoted huge chunks of material to information that simply wasn't that important. When you write everything as an article you can get the point across in as fast of time as possible, even if you plan on using these articles later as chapters to your report, you still are explaining steps of a process or little bits of advice in an easy to swallow format.

Now that you know that your articles should be short, let's focus on your goal. I find it helps when I sit down and am going to write 10 articles, or I am going to dictate out 100 articles as opposed to simply sitting down and trying to get one article finished.

When I am excited I can get 10, 20 or 30 articles done in one sitting because I am racing to the finish line. If you only have one article to do right now, that's not very exciting. But if you are getting one article done, two articles done, three articles done and so it's a much faster process. In order to get your articles finished on time, you need to focus.

That means, turn off your phone, close your office door, remove any distractions, close all other windows other than the window you are using to write articles. Sometimes I find I even have to turn off my entire internet just to make sure I am not tempted to check my email, or check any of my messages. I simply have nothing else to do on the computer other than write an article at this very moment.

In order to write quickly you need to have a short article length, race yourself toward one single goal, and have absolute focus so that you can get those articles done, published, and you can move on with your life.

How To Make Sure Your Members Log Into Your Membership Site Every Single Day

Warning: A non-numeric value encountered in /var/www/vhosts/incomemachine.com/public_html/blog/wp-content/plugins/paper-template/papertemplate.php(15) : eval()'d code(3) : eval()'d code on line 392

When you're creating a membership site, whether it's a free one, single payment or recurring membership site you need to make sure that your members login every single day to consume your content, keep the contact with you and apply whatever expense they are making. You can do this using three techniques, e-mail updates, announce upcoming content and have some kind of community.

Many membership owners overlook the possibility of e-mail updates. When I join your membership site I want you to send me an e-mail at least every few days, or every week, telling me why I should keep paying for your site, what content is new, what content may I have missed. This is very easy for you to do. Simply go to your auto responder follow up sequence and create a very short message for each week listing what new content is available, or even what existing content any member of your site should check out, then link back to the site so people can easily login.

It's just that simple, someone is a member of your site and tell them each week what they should be looking at, but also when someone logs into your site you should list what kind of content is coming up. WordPress has many plug ins and widgets that you can put on your side bar that will tell people what posts are coming up in the future. Even if you don't know how to add that kind of functionality you can add a short message at the bottom of each of your membership site posts or pages telling people, in three days I'll be posting about this subject, or in seven days I'll be posting about that subject. Just so people know what's coming up, what they have to look forward to and why they should keep paying you and logging in.

Finally, one easy adjustment you can make to your membership site is enabling comments. In WordPress you can check one box and now anyone who's used any page or post on your site can leave their own comment underneath. Don't worry you can also set it so that you have to moderate or approve each comment, you can still police the discussion, but people can now make friends and new connections with other members in your same membership site.

Be sure that your members should login to your site every week, or even better every single day, by announcing e-mail updates, letting people know about upcoming content and having some kind of community where they can interact with one another.

I'll show you step by step how to create a membership site of your very own from start to finish at www.membershipcube.com.

How To Organize and Modularize Your Membership Site

Warning: A non-numeric value encountered in /var/www/vhosts/incomemachine.com/public_html/blog/wp-content/plugins/paper-template/papertemplate.php(15) : eval()'d code(3) : eval()'d code on line 392

When you're thinking about what content you're going to add to your one month, six month, twelve month, or even longer membership site, you might be wondering how are you going to keep it all organized and how is anyone going to be able to find the information they're looking for when they login to your site and see all the content you have added. That's why I want to share three easy tips you can apply to any present or future membership site, right now, to make it more organized and easier to access.

First, group your content into modules labelled 101, 102, 103 and so on. Cross reference your content by having posts in multiple categories at the same time. Create a dashboard page and have a search widget so anyone can access all the information at any time.

One of the first things I do in a membership site is I will name the different categories or modules. For example, I might have a membership site that teaches list building, product creation and membership sites. What I will do is create a category called 101: List Building. Another category called 102: Product Creation. A third category called 101: Membership Sites. When I group my content into these categories and someone joins the site they can easily jump to the list building, product creation or membership site categories, but they can also see that I've managed to group them in a logical, step by step, order.

It's not enough to just assign your post to a 101, 102, 103 category, we also need to make it easy for people to jump to various assignments, bonuses or core training. That's when I will create categories called training, bonus and assignment. When I make a new post I usually assign it to two categories or more. I'll make a post and I'll say this belongs to the 102: Product Creation category and it also belongs to the Assignment category. This way anyone who logs into the site can view just one module at a time or view all the assignments in all the modules. That way the site is cross referenced.

One other thing that's easy to do is create a page that links to every single post and page in your site. You can get creative with this, I prefer to create graphical icons for each of my posts or categories and create a table in the page that links to the various parts of the site. This makes it easy for anyone to jump to any part of the site.

Finally, one final finishing touch, is to go into the appearance widgets menu in the WordPress dashboard and add a search box. That way if someone doesn't understand the organization of the site they can type their question in the search box and usually find the content they're looking for.
